plastic beige enclosure design, the Korg KR-55 looks like a late 70s'
nerd wet dream. Every single sound from this 1979 preset drum machine
is just perfect : snappy snare, punchy bass drum, electronic hi hats
and exotic percussions with a retro flavour.
Heavily used by early
electro bands, its raw sound just fit in any mix and any genre.
sample pack offers 7 kits, from clean and transparent to punchy
and saturated. You will also find some spring reverb and analogue
delay infused samples for even more vintage flavor.
As always, you can decide to use the
free pack or buy the
“pro” one :
- The pro
pack gathers 142 one-shot samples, gathered into 7 kits. All samples
are in WAV, 24bit 48khz stereo. It costs only 3,90$. -
pack contains 11 one shot sounds taken from the "Boost" kit
(with no variation and a couple of percussion samples missing) in
16bit, 44,1khz mono.

SR-88 has a very delicate, soft, analogue sound and is perfect

The Amdek RMK-100
is the rarest of the bunch. It was built by Roland and sold as a DIY

the three, and the hi-hats are a true gem for any acid and electro
I recorded them with the usual care, through a
custom chain of gentle tube compression and a tube preamp. I made
several takes in order to capture the subtle analogue variations of
each sound, and also processed them with a vintage hardware eq (and
some distortion on one kit to make it dirtier and punchier). Any

very friendly, but also a very rewarding world for creating new sounds,
and a still rather unexplored territory when it comes to drum synthesis.
With this new
WaveShaper kit, don't worry about spending hours programming a
snare-ish fm sound, this sample pack is ready to use and generously
gathers 250 percussive one shot samples created with FM synths.
Don't expect much to
find the usual analogue-like drums samples, it's all about designing
abstract micro sounds, pure tones, sharp transients or percussion
simulacra with a twist. Some well-known fm sounds from the 80s are also
included to make this kit more than complete.
This kit was created
by using mainly a Yamaha TX81-Z rackmount synth from 1987 (and also a
pinch of more modern gear like an Alesis Bitrman or a Waldorf Blofeld),
with 12bit converters and a quite gritty sound.
